VICKERS VIMY SHOWROOM
Vickers Vimy is one of the most famous aircraft in history. Along with Nicky, Amali, Jonathan, I was invited by the BLM (Brooklands Museum London) to give a design proposal of a showroom for this British heavy bomber aircraft.
After studying the scale of the real aircraft on-site at BLM, we have further investigated its' characteristics, including the structure and materiality through a series of drawings and scaled models.
Taking precedent from 'Voice Exhibition' designed by Ralph Applebaum, we have decided to create a rather dark atmosphere, in which the Vimy located in the centre encircled and highlighted by a series of screens.
In response to the aircraft's structure and materiality, the bowl-shaped installation has been designed in an analogue way. They also serve the purpose of circulation and display units.
